International School Placement
Living outside of one's home country is an incredible educational opportunity for any family. International schools provide top notch education for students. Nevertheless, the process of choosing the best school to meet your student's needs, especially if that school's application process is highly competitive, may be quite daunting. While there is at least one international school in every country around the world, some cities may have dozens, causing confusion and trepidation when trying to find the best fit for your student. Some families may want to stick with similar curriculum from their past school, while others may wish for the educational experience provided by their host country. World Student Support will help navigate the world of international school education and assist in the application process.
Special Education and International School Education
While there are international schools that provide services for students with specific learning disabilities, these schools do not traditionally follow the laws and regulations of their home countries (SEN in the UK, IDEA in the US). Some international schools offer excellent special education services, but families need to know in advance what degree of support is available. Families also need to be prepared for changes in their child's current educational plan. Families should be prepared to provide additional support or even consider boarding school options. World Student Support is available to help families determine the best course of action when moving abroad with a student who has special education needs.
Specialized Boarding Schools
Students with specific learning issues may benefit from a specialized boarding school that directly addresses learning disabilities. These schools promote independence, compensatory skills, on site residential support systems, on site therapy. Many prepare students to return to public education or prepare them for higher education. World Student Support has extensive knowledge of many outstanding boarding schools for students with unique learning profiles. World Student Support begins by assessing your student's goals and outcomes, and crafts a list of schools to match your student's needs.
Traditional Boarding Schools
Boarding schools offer personalized education in a residential setting. Boarding schools are an educational option for students who may be in a situation where they might need a different approach to learning. Those students who have accompanied their parents abroad and have attended international college prep schools may want to continue that type of education. Still others are coming from international schools abroad and find their home district's curriculum does not align well with their previous curriculum.

Boarding schools offer students the ability to gain independence and thrive with personalized residential support. In addition, boarding schools offer rich extracurricular activities, excursions, and community service. World Student support works collaboratively with parents and the student throughout the entire application process to ensure the best academic, cultural and emotional fit.
Day Schools/Public and Private
Whether returning home from an international school assignment, relocating to another city or needing to find a new school within your own city, locating a school to suit your child's personal approach to learning can be a challenging prospect. World Student Support will collaborate with parents and student to craft a list of viable options based on the needs of the student.

I have known Sandy for many years, since our children were toddlers. I know her from those years as a wonderful intelligent woman of great character and compassion and a cherished friend. I didn't know her professionally until two years ago when my teenage grandson started having difficulties in seventh grade at a large public middle school, and his single mom, my daughter was unable to deal with the declining grades, attendance issues and newly acquired dislike for school and learning. I helped her transfer him to a small independent school near our home and he spent school nights with my wife and me for the next year while we tried to help him sort out his issues, refocus his education and consider his high school options. A decade removed from dealing with such things with our own children, we quickly felt overwhelmed and turned to Sandy for assistance. She guided us and my grandson systematically, sensitively and with unerring skill through evaluations and treatment for his learning issues, his aptitudes and options for high school, and ultimately, through the admissions maze to acceptance into an amazing school that I had never heard of before she suggested it. The school has proven to be a phenomenal fit where, despite more work and academic rigor, my grandson has received no grade less than a B in his first semester and was elected president of the freshman class. That sort of outcome was only a dream for us two years ago, but Sandy made it happen.
